Question by Jewels: Y&R’s CANE And AMBER: Is This Irony At Its Best, Or What …?
Remember all those years ago? When Amber was so much in Cane, and desperately wanted him to forgive her for marrying him only to take advantage of his connections with prune Jill and Mrs. C? Remember when Cane acted so outraged at finding out that Amber only married him for his “Chancellor name and fortune”? And how, when she came begging for his “forgiveness”, he had sex with her, giving her false hope on purpose in order to humiliate her, then called her trash afterwards? It worked. Amber slinked away, broken-hearted and humiliated. Then, when she tried to advance in the modeling world, disguised as someone else, Cane took that opportunity to humiliate her further by pulling the wig off of her in public. He didn’t even bother to take her aside and tell her that he knew who she was. He didn’t bother to give her a chance to bow out of the competition gracefully. He wanted to humiliate her, and the look on his face said that he maliciously enjoyed it. And Amber was right. Jill and Cane had fallen back on Amber not being eligible to enter the competition because she was “married” to Cane, but she no longer had that connection. She’d never really been married to him in the first place. They wanted to keep her ineligible, yet and still they took flying leaps in order to advance Princess Lily’s career with the company … which stank of impropriety, being that Cane and Lily were basically joined at the hip at the time!
Which brings me to Friday’s episode. Now, Cane is in the same boat as Amber was. Exposed as the fraud we always knew he was, he’s now been kicked to the curb by Her Royal Highness Who Never Makes Mistakes. His butt should’ve known that! How many men has Lily ever forgiven? Daniel? No. Billy? Nope. They had the gall to lie to (or keep the truth from) her. And Cane performs the Grandfather of all Lies … and expects Lily to suddenly lose her memory … or suddenly become a forgiving person? HA!
And now Cane is the one who wants forgiveness. He humiliated Amber, using the excuse that “now she knows how it feels to have her heart broken over a lie”. Tee, hee, hee … isn’t it ironic? He ignored her pleas for forgiveness. He took every chance he had to keep her down, humiliate her further, make her feel lower than dirt, and make sure that all of Genoa City ostracized her. And for what? Wanting a name that he never had?
And, now he has the nerve to call Amber. What does he really want? To say good-bye? Why? He never really made amends to Amber. He never admitted that he mistreated her over a lie to him, while he was (at the same time) lying to everybody! Why didn’t I hear “I’m sorry” come out of his lying mouth to Amber? Maybe because he isn’t truly repentant for what he’s done? Methinks maybe he’s only sorry he got caught, huh?
The irony of it all! Amber was p*ssed for Mrs. C’s sake, not hers … I guess she had too much class to bring up the irony in him making a royal stink about her taking his name under false pretences. I just wish she would! Let him have it!
” … and if you can see this from Amber’s point of view and are willing to say what you did, then pray tell why you can’t see PHYLLIS in the same light!!”
Because “Big Red” Summers is an evil, manipulative twit who has purposely set out – over & over & over again – to injure, both physically & emotionally, everybody who she feels is a threat to what she wants. Amber has never been as cold-hearted & nasty as Phyllis. That’s the deal breaker. Phyllis has set herself up to knock everybody down in the meanest, nastiest way possible … & she enjoyed every moment of it. Just as Cane enjoyed every minute of every nastiness that he committed against people.
Do you really not see the difference? If not, then I guess you never will.
Amber Moore made mistakes.
Big Red Summers committed crimes against humanity that she has never regretted like Amber Moore has.
Lily Winters just needs to learn that everybody is human & forgive … before she loses everything that matters to her.
“Now that’s the HYPOCRISY that bothers me, because it seems that everybody on the show EXCEPT Phyllis is REDEEMABLE. Doesn’t that say something!”
You are redeemable when you acknowledge that you have done something wrong, and take the steps to make amends.
Cane has taken a few steps in the right direction. But he needs to attone for what he’d done to other people besides Lily. He’s only apologizing to Lily because he wants her back. He’s only apologizing to prune Jill and Mrs. C. because he’s never held ill will toward them. He needs to apologize to the people he hurt – on purpose – while lording his “Chancellor name” over them.
Same goes for Phyllis. Neither one regrets the actions that have put them there, they just regret getting caught.

Answer by ?You give me Butterflies MJ ?
She gave him the evil eye a few times but she should be humiliating him publicly like he did to her. I can’t stand Cane, mostly because of how he treated Amber. That scene where he screwed her and then tossed her out of the mansion was one thing. The wig thing was so uncalled for.Phyllis and Amber can never be compared to another.I can go back in the 80s and tell you Phyllis dirt. It’s a long list. Lily just needs to leave men alone period and grow up first. Cane is was to mature for her.
Cane is just a jerk. Amber owes him a few
